Provenance notes: Probably acquired in the 17th century by Algernon Percy, 10th Earl of Northumberland; bound around 1750 by the Earl of Egremont; and embossed with the Percy arms in the 19th century. Entered National Trust in 1947 as payment in lieu of inheritance tax.

Marginalia: On front pastedown: "18 / 4"; on front flyleaf: "H. 5. 8" and "I 7.8" (deleted); MS table of contents on verso of front flyleaf.

Binding: Gilt centrepiece on both covers: crescent moon, surrounded by garter motto with earl's coronet on top. Sprinkled calf, red sprinkled edges, double gilt fillet frame, gilt centrepieces (boxed).
