Provenance notes: On K2v of The Phoenix, written vertically: "Mr James Boorne his Booke and pen. Amen. [trimmed] and if you fare well, it is well"; on A4v of The Bondman: "Robt Waterhouse". Probably acquired in the 17th century by Algernon Percy, 10th Earl of Northumberland; bound around 1750 by the Earl of Egremont; and embossed with the Percy arms in the 19th century. Entered National Trust in 1947 as payment in lieu of inheritance tax.

Marginalia: On front pastedown: "18/ 4"; "2: 6: 43"; on front flyleaf: "I7. 3" (deleted); "F. 5. 3."; MS table of contents on verso of front flyleaf; next to imprint on Old Fortunatus and The Bondman: "23"; on last verso of King Lear, note in Welsh.

Binding: Gilt centrepiece on both covers: crescent moon, surrounded by garter motto with earl's coronet on top. Sprinkled calf, red sprinkled edges, double gilt fillet frame, gilt centrepieces (boxed).
